Violent Femmes may be the most famous band to come out of Milwaukee and the music community here will probably always claim the band as its own.
Some 36 years ago, the band was discovered by The Pretenders while busking in front of the Oriental Theatre, helping launch the debut self-titled album to reach platinum status in 1983.
In 2017, the band still commands an audience at the 5,000 capacity BMO Harris Pavilion, proving its still a force today.
We were lucky to have the Violent Femmes perform a session in our *much* more intimate 88Nine studio on July 21 in advance of the band's mega show that night.
