Every day of Summerfest, we’ll bring you a rundown of the headliners, hidden gems and Radio Milwaukee staff picks so you can catch the very best local, national and global artists performing across the nine days. Here’s what day four has in store, from metal at the Amp to throwbacks throughout the park (see the full 2022 Summerfest lineup here and how to score drink deals every day here):
Today at the American Family Insurance Amphitheater: Disturbed, Lamb of God, Chevelle and New Medicine
Say a prayer for the artists at the BMO Harris Pavilion tonight as sound bleed reaches unparalleled levels courtesy of the all-metal lineup at the Amp (insert your “these go to 11” joke here). Headliners Disturbed came out of the gate fast and loud in 2000 with “Down With the Sickness,” the second single from their debut album that had large swaths of America making a sound sort of like “ooh-wa-ah-ah-ah.” Joining the five-time Billboard 200 toppers and mental-health activists are decidedly non-Christian group Lamb of God, Chevelle and New Medicine.
Staff pick from Marcus Doucette: The Wailers @ Johnson Controls World Sound Stage with 88Nine Radio Milwaukee, 8 p.m.
Time to get irie as legendary reggae band The Wailers hits our stage at Summerfest. Peace and love rule as Bob Marley’s spirit still guides the positive vibrations from the group, now led by original member Aston “Family Man” Barrett. Nothing says summer quite like reggae; I'll see you there.
Local flavor: Grace Weber’s Music Lab @ AmFam House, 1-3 p.m.
Grace Weber’s Music Lab is a free monthly music and arts education program hosted by Radio Milwaukee during the school year. This pop-up at the American Family Insurance House, located directly inside the Mid Gate, features a unique opportunity for guests of all ages to listen and learn. Hear performances and interviews from GWML graduates Trinity Grace, Damien Blair and Mia Mari, plus a special performance by program coordinator and local musician B~Free and Grace Weber herself.
