Two down, seven to go.
After announcing Zac Brown Band as the first American Family Insurance Amphitheater headliner a month ago, Summerfest added another name to that lineup Monday morning — two, actually.
Imagine Dragons will play the top slot on the festival’s final day, July 8. They’ll get some help from AJR, who will open the show, creating a double bill with a hefty amount of bombast.
While both bands play very generally in the pop sandbox, they each put their own spin on a theatrical approach to the music, with Imagine Dragons heading in the arena-rock direction and AJR more electronic. It’s high energy and perhaps a wee bit over the top at times, but it’s hard to imagine it not playing well in a venue like the AmFam Amp.
There's an artist presale Tuesday, Nov. 15; a venue presale Thursday, Nov. 17; then a general sale Friday, Nov. 18. All three start at 10 a.m. Central Time. But beware: This show has fallen prey to Ticketmaster’s dreaded dynamic pricing. And, as it says right on the landing page, “Ticket prices may fluctuate, based on demand, at any time.”
