Summerfest has arrived, and with more than 800 bands at the festival, it's hard to know what to see. So we're cutting through the noise and sharing some recommendations. Here's what you've got to see during the first half of the festival
Our headliner we have to highlight is Bon Iver, playing his first show at Summerfest ever, and his only Wisconsin show of the year on Saturday, June 29. He's got some new songs out, and this may be the world's first chance to hear some of his new material live. And with the National about to perform the next day, might some of those musicians make an appearance?
Then we recommend Milwaukee punk favorites Direct Hit that same night. They'll be at the Uline Warehouse opening for Jimmy Eat World.
Lionel Richie will be playing the American Family Insurance Amphitheater on Tuesday, July 2, his first Milwaukee show in 19 years. And Michael McDonald opens. How fun is that?
And we also share a couple of homegrown picks: R&B singer Jacob Latimore, on July 2, and singer-songwriter Nora Collins on July 3. She'll kick off a night of female country artists.
