One year in, Fiserv Forum has already transformed Downtown

One year ago on Aug. 26 was the grand opening of the Fiserv Forum. We look back on what's proven to be a blockbuster year for Milwaukee's new basketball arena, which hosted an incredible 32 concerts in its first 12 months. For context, the Bradley Center never topped more than 18 concerts in a single year during its entire history.

In addition to bringing in big touring acts, the Fiserv Forum has also created a new place for community downtown, a place for people to gather for festivals or even just viewings of "The Bachelorette." That's on top of the surrounding bars and restaurants it has attracted.

To celebrate its first year, the venue is hosting a local music festival, the Chords & Curds festival featuring Angie Swan and Grace Weber, who perform as part of a diverse lineup of Milwaukee musicians. Swan has toured with David Byrne and Fifth Harmony. There will also be food trucks and local artisans. Proceeds will go to the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music. What a great way to wrap up what's been a banner year for the arena.

Piet goes deep on the numbers, sharing some eye-popping stats about how many tickets the venue has sold. Of course, it didn't hurt that the Bucks had an incredible year, with their best team record in decades and the best regular-season record of any NBA team.
