Wisconsin music venues petition Gov. Tony Evers for help

We've talked a lot on Tap'd In this year about how independent music venues are struggling. An estimated 90% of them could be at risk of closing.

There's a push for something to happen at the state level, and some recent news on the front: Gov. Tony Evers has announced a $5 million grant program to help arts organizations that have been impacted by the pandemic. However it seems unlikely that for-profit venues like The Rave or Cactus Club would currently be eligible for money under that program.

So the Wisconsin chapter of the National Independent Venues Association has started a Change.org petition to secure some emergency grants. "We are asking Governor Evers to consider Wisconsin Live Entertainment Grants that other states like Montana (and over a dozen other markets have also committed to)," they write in the petition.
