It appears we’re slowly making our way out of this cold snap, but for now it’s a very good time for indoor activities — like visiting museums, for example. Lucky for all of us that Visit Milwaukee’s Museum Days are back with a gift shop’s worth of discounts at locations across the area.

Running from Jan. 18-28, this year’s Museum Days includes 32 participants offering admission anywhere from free to $15. The reduced rates proved to be a big success in 2023, with many museums reporting a bump in visitors over the same period the year before.

“Our museums create a rich sense of identity and pride for our community while enhancing the quality of life for residents and providing a wonderful experience for our visitors," Visit Milwaukee president and CEO Peggy Williams-Smith said in a release. "We are always proud to invite visitors from around the world to explore these institutions and make them a regular part of their travels to Milwaukee.”

This year’s campaign also includes a “State of the Union” for the area’s museums, as leaders of several institutions gather at Marquette University’s Eckstein Hall this Friday, Jan. 19, for “On the Issues: Museum and Arts Funding in Wisconsin.” The event is open to the public and will include representatives from the Milwaukee Public Museum, Wisconsin Black Historical Society and Museum of Wisconsin Art, among others.

You can find a full list of participating locations below and a breakdown of museums by admission price on Visit Milwaukee’s Museum Days webpage.
