A hot second after the news rolled out that Maroon 5 will play the AmFam Amphitheater on the final Friday of Summerfest, the festival revealed another headliner scheduled for July 5: Bryson Tiller at the BMO Pavilion.
The singer-songwriter-rapper slips among adjacent genres, calling his approach “trap and hip-hop-influenced R&B.” In October of 2014, he posted debut single “Don’t” to SoundCloud and saw it attract the ears of fans and industry execs alike. It got its official release in May of the following year and eventually climbed as high as No. 13 on the Billboard Hot 100.
His first album, Trapsoul, dropped almost exactly a year after that initial single and cracked the Billboard 200’s top 10, reaching No. 8. He’s since released two more albums — 2017’s True to Self and 2020’s Anniversary — and in 2021 announced plans for a triple album titled Serenity that has yet to materialize. He did, however, put out the single “Whatever She Wants” earlier this year.
If you want to score a reserved seat at Tiller’s July 5 show at the BMO Pavilion, they go on sale at 10 a.m. this Friday, March 8, online via Ticketmaster and at the Summerfest box office located near the south gate.
