For more than 20 years, the Charles E. Kubly Foundation has dedicated itself to improving the lives of those affected by depression. This Friday, one of the organization’s most visible examples of that mission will take place at Discovery World, as Beyond the Blues returns for its 21st installment.
The event has been around as long as the foundation itself, which was founded in 2003 by friends and family of Charlie Kubly, who died by suicide after a yearslong battle with depression. In the time since, the organization has taken steps to eliminate the stigma about depression and mental illness so everyone can feel more comfortable stepping forward and getting the help they need.
Every year, hundreds of people who support that goal gather for Beyond the Blues, which encourages donations and arranges sponsorships to support mental-health projects in our communities. This Friday’s event runs from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. on The Pavilion at Discovery World and will include live music by Phil Norby, a casual dinner and a brief program highlighting the foundation’s work.
If you’re interested in supporting the Charles E. Kubly Foundation’s work, tickets for tonight’s Beyond the Blues event are available at the door, and you can also donate to the organization via their website.
