With its 27th annual event fast approaching, the Center Street Daze Festival shared a pile of details about this year’s shindig, including the 30+ artists scheduled to perform.
“The festival has grown since its inception as a block party 27 years ago,” longtime event organizer Ruth Weill said in a release. “The Riverwest Business Association is proud to host one of the city's major street festivals right here in the Riverwest neighborhood.”
That section of the city will get a chance to show off from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, as the festival takes over Center Street between Holton Street and Humboldt Boulevard. The showpiece Art Cart race will once again serve as the event’s unofficial kickoff at noon on the corner of Bremen and Center streets, with other activities running throughout the day:
- Yard games (putt-putt, cornhole and hopscotch) at Uptowner Bar
- Hat press at Ebb & Flow
- Unique Car Club car show
- Dead Man’s Carnival
- Jazz Gallery rummage sale
- Family-friendly activities on the 900 block of Center Street
- Roving magician
The vendor list is a work in progress, but organizers expect more than 100 local businesses and craftspeople to show up with art, jewelry, apparel and more. The food-and-beverage providers also haven’t been finalized (besides the ones with brick-and-mortar locations on Center Street), but organizers shared that Uyghur Grill and Yadeem's on the Go will both be on the scene.
On the entertainment side, Riverwest Radio will host panels of its producers in front of the station at 824 E. Center St., giving attendees an opportunity to learn about its one-of-a-kind programming and meet the hosts. Beyond that, you’ll find the aforementioned dozens of performers at six different spots, all of which we’ve laid out for you below.
