It’s always fun to get out of the house and grab some good food. It’s even more fun when doing so means people in need get more good food in their homes. You can help make that happen when Vivent’s Health’s 2nd annual Dining Out for Life happens at restaurants across Milwaukee on Thursday, Sept. 12.
The eateries participating in this year’s event are some of the city’s best — but we’ll get to that in a moment. First up, let’s cover the positive impact. Because of events like the inaugural Dining Out for Life, Vivent Health was able to provide 11,250 pantry orders to more than 1,000 clients and their families in 2023. This year, the organization is eager to grow those numbers.
“As a community-based organization, Vivent Health must continue delivering the services and programs that meet the most critical health needs of our community and remain nimble so we can adapt as those needs change,” chief philanthropy and community engagement officer Margaret Lidstone said in a release. “Dining Out for Life is instrumental in ensuring that this happens.”
For one day only, more than a dozen bars and restaurants in the Milwaukee area will donate part of their proceeds to Vivent Health’s food pantry. While there are some darn good options available, arguably the star of the show is Amilinda, home of James Beard Award nominee Gregory León. The chef/owner noted in the release that, “Food is health. It seems like an obvious choice for us to participate in Dining Out for Life, an event that benefits all sectors of our community.”
As of this writing, there are 14 locations participating in this year’s event:
- Amilinda
- Antigua
- Bavette
- Beerline Cafe
- Brass Monkey
- Cubanitas
- Flour Girl & Flame
- Fluid
- La Cage
- Mi Casa Su Cafe
- Ono Kine Grindz
- The Pasta Tree
- POP
- Vier North
If you’d like to be part of this year’s Dining Out for Life, it’s pretty easy: Just go eat at any of the locations listed above. Most of them are donating 25% of their proceeds to Vivent Health, with a special shout out to Fluid for bumping it up to 50%.
