Milwaukee Music Premiere: Trinity Grace, ‘Hold On’

Olivia Castro

Every week, the Milwaukee Music Premiere sponsored by Density Studios connects the city’s artists with our listening audience. If you’re an artist with a track you’d like us to debut exclusively on Radio Milwaukee, head over to our Music Submission page to learn how.

Trinity Grace’s relationship to music started with family and survived because of faith.

Like a lot of us, her first exposure was what she heard around the house from a father who doubled up as a DJ and producer. She was singing as soon as she was talking, and writing songs before middle school. That original music started making its way into the world in 2016 and found its way to the stage with her first local performances a year later.

Then, in 2021, music took a backseat so Grace could give serious thought to her identity as an artist. “Over the past few years, I’ve experienced a lot of personal and creative growth,” she shared with us. “That evolution has deeply influenced the sound and concepts behind my new work.”

One of those fresh offerings gets its premiere today: “Hold On,” the second of two singles from Grace’s EP coming next month. It’s a song that surprises you from the start, particularly if you feel like you know what you’re in for when an artist uses the word “faith” in conjunction with their music.

There’s some legit thump to the track, which Grace described as “a love song — but it’s also much more than that. It’s about holding on to a love so powerful it’s almost beyond human understanding. It’s a song filled with hope, joy, and rhythms that’ll make you want to move.” All three of those aspects come across from the start as Grace sings:

Your love is patient, your love is kind
Your love continues to blow my mind
'Cuz my wordly perception can't grasp your affection
All I know is your love is mine

You can hear “Hold On” anytime using the player at the top of the page and on 88Nine throughout today (6:30 and 10:30 a.m.; 2:30 and 6:30 p.m.). For more on Trinity Grace’s music, check out her Linktree.
