We listen to a lot of things at Radio Milwaukee. Music, of course, but also all of the feedback and information we receive that help us make decisions about our programming — most of which comes from you.
Every heart on social media. Every thought you share with us in person at an event. Every time you choose to tune in to one of our stations. It all makes an impact, and we’re using it to reshape what you hear on 88Nine.
This isn’t about revamping the station you’ve come to know so well. 88Nine is Milwaukee’s indie alternative and relies heavily on its knowledgeable on-air staff to help you discover new music, as well as resurface some old favorites you may have forgotten. None of that is changing. In fact, we’re giving more time to those local voices.
Starting Sept. 7, Sundays on 88Nine will belong entirely to our very Milwaukee DJs.
- 9 a.m. to noon — Doris Wessels
- Noon to 3 p.m. — Paula Lovo
- 3 to 6 p.m. — Kat Froehlich
- 6 to 9 p.m. — Britt Gottschalk
You’ll hear those same voices on Saturdays, and in between we’ve got a few more fresh ideas to take you through the week, including a dedicated 10 p.m. time slot for all of our specialty shows:
- Mondays — What’s All This: Adventures in New Music, hosted by Erin Wolf
- Tuesdays — Sheroes Radio, hosted by Carmel Holt
- Wednesdays — La Alternativa, hosted by Paula Lovo
- Thursdays — Mic Drop Moments, hosted by Element Everest-Blanks
- Fridays — Rhythm Lab Radio, hosted by Tarik Moody
Speaking of Fridays, we’ve got a different kind of “new” lined up for the day when the latest batch of albums hits the street. Every music fan looks forward to those releases, and we’re going to help by making New Music Friday last all day long by featuring tracks from records that just dropped that morning.
On top of that, every Friday you’ll get hand-picked recommendations for the new albums you absolutely need to hear in a segment we’re calling “On Vinyl.” 88Nine music director Erin Wolf and Lilliput Records co-owner Tanner Musgrove will share their selections on the air at 1 p.m., and you’ll also be able to find that week’s list every morning at radiomilwaukee.org.
We can't wait for you to hear every nip and tuck we made to the 88Nine schedule in an effort to connect you with the music you love and the city you love — because we're Milwaukee radio by Milwaukee people, and we always will be.
