Add of the Week: Sir Chloe, ‘Home Where’

Every Monday, Add of the Week unveils all the new songs going into the 88Nine on-air playlist, with one hand-picked selection put in the spotlight by a member of our music team.

Dana Foote of Sir Chloe is really great at turning out chilled-out dream-pop sounds, then turning on a dime to drop everything for some straight-up, head-banging grunge rock.

Sir Chloe’s latest single, “Home Where,” presents exactly that structure: Foote stepping gingerly into the spotlight with her lovely voice amidst chiming guitars and spaced out drums, only to kick up dusty distortion midway through, cranking things up quite a few notches for a wild dynamic shift that expresses the full capacity of the sounds of Sir Chloe. On “Home Where,” Foote sings:

It's getting awful loud
Inside your open mouth
Nothing prepares me now
For cold and seething sounds…
Home where nobody goes
I want a place I call my own
Home where nobody knows
What I become when I'm alone

Seemingly, Foote is caught in the tangle of a difficult moment and looking for somewhere to call home and collect her thoughts. We’ve all been there, squished into an uncomfortable moment, longing to be anywhere but.

The desire to relax into solitude and the emotions that pour around that desire surface quickly and loudly on “Home Where,” and the song was only shared via live sets and Twitch until now. So fans should be pretty happy to finally be able to press “play” on this one.

You can listen to “Home Where” at the top of the page and on 88Nine by tuning your FM dial in Milwaukee or streaming worldwide on our website and mobile app.
