The new varieties of hot dogs and cool t-shirts get most of the attention in the run-up to the Brewers’ home opener. But there’s another facet of the team’s activities that fans can look forward to participating in this season — while making an impact well beyond the stadium.
The Brewers Community Foundation will once again host its Drive for Charity, a series of opportunities to bring much-needed items to American Family Field and receive a token of appreciation in return. The five events taking place in the months ahead and the designated items the team is looking to collect are:
- April 4-6 (vs. Cincinnati Reds) — Peanut butter, with a commemorative pin featuring Sal Frelick
- May 15 (drive-thru event) — Pet supplies, with a commemorative pin featuring Trevor Megill
- May 16-18 (vs. Minnesota Twins) — Pet supplies, with a commemorative pin featuring Trevor Megill
- June 27-29 (vs. Colorado Rockies) — New socks, with a commemorative pin TBA
- Aug. 8-10 (vs. New York Mets) — School supplies, with a commemorative pin TBA
- Sept. 26-28 (Cincinnati Reds) — New winter hats, mittens and scarves, with a commemorative pin TBA
The May 15 drive-thru event will be held in the Cooper parking lot near Helfaer Field. The first 200 fans through the line will receive a Famous Racing Sausages water bottle and two ticket vouchers for a future home game. For all the events, fans can also make a monetary donation of at least $10 and receive the commemorative pin.
You can find more information about the Drive for Charity, as well as the link to make an online monetary donation, on the Brewers website.
