Leading the charge is Chuwi, a dynamic band hailing from Isabella, Puerto Rico. Their blend of thought-provoking lyricism, traditional bomba rhythms and innovative electronic textures creates an electrifying musical experience. Chuwi's music transports listeners to the shores of Puerto Rico, simultaneously igniting a spirit of protest against injustices taking place on the island. With their bold vision, Chuwi embody the future of music, addressing pressing issues while resonating deeply with the Puerto Rican community's quest for peace on their native soil.
In addition to Chuwi, we introduce two remarkable Puerto Rican singer-songwriters who captivate audiences with their smooth Latin pop melodies and soul-stirring lyrics.
First up is Katiria, a native of Puerto Rico whose musical prowess spans genres, including reggaetón, salsa, cumbia, R&B and pop. We showcased her latest project, Del Cielo a la Tierra Vol. 1 Heaven, featuring the flavor-filled Bachata record "Momento Oportuno." Catch Katiria as a special guest at this year's 11th annual Puerto Rican Festival of Wisconsin happening in Milwaukee on Aug 18.
Next, we turn our attention to Alesha, a rising star with Puerto Rican roots who was born in Pennsylvania and raised in Milwaukee. Alesha is set to unveil more compelling music this year, including her latest single "El Que Quiere Lo Hara," a vibrant salsa track reminiscent of '90s sensations La India and Brenda K Starr. With her unique blend of R&B and Latin rhythms, Alesha is poised to make a significant mark on the Milwaukee music scene.
