Serving up a hot slab of scuzz, New Orleans garage rockers Twisted Teens just dropped their newest and third full-length album, Florida Water Blues.
They’re one of the buzziest indie bands out there right now, with a sound that’s been categorized as “dirty-fingernailed.” I would agree that seems appropriate, although the waltz tempo of “Weather the Season” feels like a breather compared with the more compact sounds from the rest of the album, led by the delightful growl-y howl of Caspian Hollywell.
The band’s punk qualities are soaked through and through with swamp water, making for a great, boozy-ish summer listen. Because when the heat and humidity are impossible to physically overcome, listening to something like this at least makes you feel cool.
