In fact, our interns are a big part of our team here at Radio Milwaukee.
Not only do we love having our interns around and learning from their ideas, but we're also committed to giving you a valuable, hands-on (and fun!) experience to add to your resume.
Interested in music? Or journalism? Or storytelling? Or film? Or photography? Or marketing? Or social media? Or nonprofits? Or.... you get it.
There's a lot that goes into running a nonprofit radio station. And with each internship we're committed to making sure its not only worthwhile, but gives students the opportunity to explore and learn about each department.
Curious? Take a peek at our current internship opportunities.
We're currently accepting applications for the Summer 2017 semester-- check out our current internship opportunities below:
Programming Intern
What does a "programming intern" do? To sum it up, they get the opportunity to really see, and learn, what it takes to run the "music" side of our business-- whether that's from helping decide what music we play on-air or editing on-air segments, to helping run our in-studio events and performances. Have an interest in radio, journalism, media production or music? This internship will give you hands-on experience in these fields along with the freedom to explore other departments and inner workings of our station.
Requirements:
- Must be a current college student and able to receive credit
- Must have strong writing skills
- Audio editing experience not necessary but a plus.
To apply: Send a writing sample, resume and cover letter to internship@radiomilwaukee.org or click here to apply.
Applications due: April 28th, 2017
Community Stories Intern
Interested in journalism, storytelling, interviewing or radio production? Each week, our Community Stories department produces 4-5 original pieces of audio storytelling that play both on-air and online (Haven't heard them? Click here). Community Story interns get the opportunity to work closely with our producers and will follow stories from the original pitch to the final produced piece. Are you creative, a strong writer and have a love for Milwaukee and its stories? This internship gives you the opportunity to learn how these stories are approached and executed, as well as gives you the chance to pitch ideas and produce your own content.
- Must be a current college student and able to receive credit.

- Strong writing skills a must.
