Milwaukee Theater Week returns in October with discounts and more

Visit Milwaukee

In its almost two years in existence, the Milwaukee Theater District has gotten busy bringing attention to the city’s live-entertainment options. One of its biggest attention-getters was last year’s launch of Milwaukee Theater Week, which is back for its second edition and runs from Oct. 10-20.

Before we get to that stretch, there’s something more immediate happening in conjunction with the celebratory week. Starting today (Sept. 18), you can find five sets of theater seats scattered around the city, providing a photo-friendly opportunity to kick back and enjoy some of the nicest views in Milwaukee. The authentic seats pulled straight from the Milwaukee Rep’s Quadracci Powerhouse are located at:

  • Cathedral Square Park (520 E. Wells St.)
  • RiverWalk at Chase Tower (111 E. Wisconsin Ave.)
  • Broadway Parklet (180 N. Broadway)
  • Red Arrow Park (920 N. Water St.)
  • Vel R. Phillips Plaza (401 W. Wisconsin Ave.)

When you’re done snapping selfies at the seats, it should be just about time for the actual Milwaukee Theater Week, which has a couple special events happening during the 10-day run.

On Oct. 16, Lakefront Brewery’s regular trivia night will transform to a theater-focused edition that’ll see what you know about the biggest names to ever tread the boards, iconic shows and more. The questions start flying at 6:30 p.m., and Lakefront recommends that you book a spot using their online reservation system.

Another team-up happens just a couple days later on Oct. 18, when one of Milwaukee’s regular arts-focused events becomes “It’s Alive at Gallery Night!” From 6 to 8 p.m, you can take a break from exploring Milwaukee’s gallery scene and visit the Broadway Parklet location mentioned above (180 N. Broadway) for a free performance by the stars of the Skylight Music Theatre.

Arguably the real star of Milwaukee Theater Week is all the discounts available at venues throughout the district. As of this writing, there are eight highlighted on the MTW webpage:

There are plenty of other ways to support our local arts venues and organizations throughout Milwaukee Theater Week, and you can find a helpful list (that includes the HYFIN Anti-Gala!) on the event’s webpage.
