Five months after it closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Milwaukee Public Museum (MPM) will reopen on Friday, Aug. 21.
The museum announced the reopening this morning in a press release, along with some additional safety measures. Masks will be required, of course. And as part of its first phase of reopening, some exhibits will be closed and visitors will be guided through other exhibits via one-way paths.
To maintain social distancing, visitors will be required to reserve a timed entry ticket. Times can be reserved up to 14 days before the visit.
"To supplement available exhibits, MPM has enabled free WiFi for visitors and will be rolling out new monthly programming videos tied to various exhibits," according to the press release.
MPM members and donors can get into the museum a week before the public reopening, starting Aug. 13.
“We’re excited to welcome people back to the museum,” MPM President and CEO Dr. Ellen Censky wrote said in a statement. “Though visits in this first phase of reopening may look a little different, we are excited to offer new and unique ways to safely connect our visitors to nature and culture.”
