Step inside just about any restaurant in the Milwaukee area, and you can put together a multi-course meal. But eating like true royalty, with several restaurants vying to meet your every culinary desire, takes a special event — something very much like MKE Food Truck Fest, which returns Saturday, July 22.
The annual gastronomic gathering organized in part by OnMilwaukee has clearly tickled the appetites of local food lovers, who snapped up enough tickets the last two years to make them both sold-out affairs. It wouldn’t be surprising to see the same go down in 2023, which again features a diverse range of edible options, including:
- My Funnel (funnel cakes and ice cream)
- Say Cheese Curd Company
- Pete’s Pops
- Kona Ice
- Hawaiian Shave Ice
- Babalou Stuffed Pretzels
- Fazio’s (serving Koepsell’s popcorn)
- Catalano’s (lemonade)
- Taco Barrio
- Jalisco’s Mexican Restaurant
- Arepa’s Place
- Piña Mexican Eats
- Pico’s Tacos
- Clean Cruisine
- JMakin’ Jamaican
- The Lumpia Lady
- Double B’s BBQ
- T&N’s Eggroll House
- Isa’s Artisan Ice Cream
- Hot Box Pizza
Organizers noted they’re still looking to add to the food selection and that vendors can reach out via email if they’re interested in a spot. As for those of us on the other side of the service window, the festival added a new ticket option for 2023 that’ll take care of the thirstier side of things as well. For both the lunch (noon to 3 p.m.) and dinner (5 to 8 p.m.) sessions, you can choose any of the following:
- General admission ($5)
- VIP ($15) — one-hour early entry, free beverage (alcoholic or non-alcoholic)
- Super VIP ($75) — one-hour early entry, unlimited bar privileges (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) in a private lounge area
Children under 10 years of age are free, and there’s also a way for grown-ups to save a little money if they act fast. Between now and May 21, anyone who buys a ticket will receive a free $5 gift card they can use at bars and food vendors. You can get more information about tickets, vendors and the entertainment on hand this year by visiting the MKE Food Truck Fest website.
