Uptown "Pho-nk"
Uptown “Pho-nk” will be bringing SapSap's famous “pho on the farm concept” to uptown Racine in the beautiful Branch at 1501 venue on Saturday, August 25. SapSap has some delightful pho, and I don't say that lightly. The Lao/southeast Asian restaurant serves a beautiful 24-hour beef stock with shaved brisket, bone marrow and a Southeast Asian herb garnish. This pop-up event will also have Lao style grilled meats with a Thai chili dipping sauce and the award-winning Mamma's Eggrolls.
Other Milwaukee food news and events
Irish Fest
Milwaukee's huge Irish celebration continues this weekend at the Summerfest grounds until Sunday, August 19 with plenty of Irish and Irish-American fare. Try the bridies, sausage rolls, shepherd's pie and bangers and mash as well as corned beef and cabbage and a variety of stuffed baked potatoes. For a sweet delight get Bailey's cheesecake, shamrock cookies and Irish cream puffs.
Zoofari
The Milwaukee County Zoo is pairing food with animals and their native regions for the Zoofari a la carte festival though Sunday, August 19. That might sound strange, until you see the list of good food that will be there. La Masa will be there with oven baked empanadas, Simmas is bringing cheesecakes, Hue will have their Vietnamese cuisine and more. Plus, there will be a "bear garden," a beer garden by the brown bear exhibit.
Pete's Pops
The Pete's Pops Washington Park neighborhood storefront is finally opening this weekend. The grand opening will include True Skool DJs, free hot dogs and 24 of Pete's signature popsicle flavors including a horchata pop as a Vliet Street special.
Mason Street Grill
Mason Street Grill's Chef's Counter series has a new menu for the next eight weeks. The Chef's Counter series features a rotating special menu that highlights the diversity of the staff members. Each series focuses on their culture, personalities and experiences. The latest is called: Eating Global in the Neighborhood: International BBQ and it looks delicious.
