Students sell painted birdhouses to benefit Arts @ Large

If you're headed to the Realtor's Home and Garden Show over the next two weekends, keep an eye out for a display of colorful birdhouses.

They were created by students from Milwaukee High School of the Arts who spent weeks working on them after school.  Now fully painted, they will hang at the main entrance of the show where attendees will be able to place bids to purchase.

Proceeds from the sale of the birdhouses will benefit at Arts @ Large, a nonprofit working in schools where art programs aren't as robust.

Home and Garden Show visitors are encouraged to vote for their favorite birdhouse, and the student whose design that gets the most votes will receive a $500 scholarship to continue his or her education in the arts.  Independent judges will also grant a second $500 scholarship to a student based on artistic merit.

The birdhouses will be on display for the duration of the show, ending April 2.
