I have a prediction for 2011. Corporations and brands will play more of a major role in the music industry than ever before. I could even say that at least 3 brands or corporations will even create 'record labels'. Red Bull, Mountain Dew and Starbucks all have record labels that actually release some interesting and amazing music.
American Express is the next corporation getting in the music business. To promote their new card ZYNC, which is aimed at a younger clientele, they asked Passion Pit, The Antlers and Andrew Bird to create original tunes to give away. American Express calls it the ZYNC Mix and you can check it out on their Facebook page. Listen to the songs below and let me know what you think. Do you think having companies getting involved in music is a good thing or a bad thing?
Passion Pit - "All These Trees"
The Antlers - "Bird Bank"
Andrew Bird - "Manny's Montage"
