UWM's Tour of Sustainability/Make a Difference Week 1

Green Eggs and Ham...that's the name of UWM's introduction to sustainability on campus. UWM Union Programming's Share the Earth Series, the UWM Office of Sustainability and the Student Association's Environmental Sustainability Committee recently partnered up to share information, give tours of its green campus and talk everything sustainable with incoming students.

At the event there was a locally sourced breakfast, an energy dashboard that tracks real-time energy consumption, a virtual tour of sustainable projects happening, and real walking tours where students could identify environmental initiatives around campus.

Whether you're a part of UWM's on campus community or off, you can still learn and take part in its sustainable features. Several green projects include the student union green roof (along with six other green roofs around campus), the recently installed campus garden, the storm-water management project at Parking Lot 18, Bolton Hall's solar panels, and Downer Woods.

I spoke with Kate Nelson, Sustainability Coordinator, and Linda Corbin-Pardee from UWM Programming, and they told me a whole lot more about UWM's green initiatives. Click below and have a listen.
