I like theater. I like being transported to another place via a stage, actors, and a compelling story..and so does Dennis Johnson, a founding member of Uprooted Theater as well as Public Relations Manager and Casting Director. Uprooted Theater originated through a dialogue about the lack of acting and directing opportunities for people of color, and now provides Milwaukee yet another outlet for the performing arts.
Dennis and I met at one of our fave coffee shops to talk about the origins of Uprooted Theater, his own history in theater, and his love of directing.
