Oak Leaf Discovery Tour/Community Stories Summer 2012

The Park People of Milwaukee present “ The Oak Leaf Discovery Tour Passport Event!” This event goes on all summer long and the point is to get out, get active and rediscover the 115-mile stretch of the Oak Leaf Trail.

So this is what happens: The program has pocked-sized books (that look similar to a passport) and each book comes with a map of the Oak Leaf Trail, pictures and information about 14 county park locations. Each time you visit one of these park locations, you collect special stamps in your passport. If you collect at least 8 stamps and register your passport, you’ll then be eligible to win prizes at the end of summer. Pretty cool, right?

The ultimate goal of this program is to encourage families, individuals and Milwaukee residents at large to explore the history, healthy recreation, cultural opportunities and natural beauty of Milwaukee County Parks.

The Discovery Tour runs through September 11 th. The drawing for prizes will take place on September 15 th during a concert event at Estabrook Park. In the meantime, get outside and explore Milwaukee’s beautiful park system. Just don’t forget your passport along the way.
