Black On Both Sides: The Samples

This week on the Seven O'Clock sample we are putting Mos Def on the table, for another classic album discetion.  Mos Def's BLACK ON BOTH SIDES was released in the fall of 1999.  His work with Talib Kweli on the BlackStar album had created a lot of buzz for this debut solo project.  Mos Def reasched out to some amazing producers for this record, and we start this week's exploration with the biggest name on this musical roster; DJ PREMIER.

Primo dropped a gem for this album with the track "Mathematics."

The samples scrathed by Premier on the chorus include C.R.E.A.M. by Wu-Tang Clan, On & On by Erykah Badu, John Blaze by Fat Joe and the song Body Rock by Mos Def feat. Q-Tip and Tash. But the sample that Primo flipped on this track almost went under my radar.  Listen to the first 10 seconds of this Fatback Band track called "Baby I'm A Want You" , and see if you can spot the samples.
