Today, The REstatic dropped as a re-mixtape. The 2009 album by Yasiin Bey (the artist formerly known as Mos Def) got reworked by the hands of DJ Preservation.
Yasiin Bey is a fascinating character himself. Since he entered the music scene working with De La Soul in 1996, he has released albums, acted in major films, as well as TV shows, designed clothes, and done just about everything else. The re-mixed album brings Yasiin Bey back onto the musical radar. DJ Preservation's remix is pretty good, and if anything else, it gave me an excuse to listen to Mos Def again.
