The last slice of new music on Sound Travels on Wednesday was a tasty tune from Oakland cumbia-dub outfit Candelaria. Judging from the work on their self-titled new album, this band can handle both dub and cumbia in equal measure, treating the two styles like the long lost cousins they are. They're playing at Stonefly tonight, show starts at 9pm and I'll be front and center gettin' my dance on.
Apparently their story has a Milwaukee connection as well, with a couple of the members being from the Mil. Either way, I would strongly recommend that you attend as Milwaukee is plenty short of music that goes so fluidly in this direction. Plus, Sindoola is on the bill and their music is awesome as well.
