The first weekend of Summerfest 2014 is upon us. The World’s Largest Music Festival is always a tumultuous affair. Walking down the boardwalk while weaving through 11 separate stages, attempting to avoid collisions with droves of oncoming festival goers, and scanning the horizon for that perfect food vender; it is enough to give anyone a sensory overload. Saturday June 28th, 2014
Artist: Robert Delong
Genre: EDM, Electronic, Indie

Place: Miller Lite Oasis
Robert Delong is not your typical electronic artist. While his first hit, Global Concepts, quickly became a dance-club classic, Delong manages to be an artist that defies classification. Delong has a background in classical jazz, drumming, as well as computer programming. He often augments video game controllers and other gadgets to tweak his live performance. Delong’s infectious sound is sure to keep you dancing.?
Artist: Kongos
Genre: Alternative Rock
Time: 10 PM
Place: U.S. Cellular Connection Stage
Kongos is an emerging band that is sure to keep you on your feet. Described as, “multi-cultural, multi-instrumental, and multi-faceted,” Kongos is sure to deliver a unique sound. The band is, quite literally, a band of brothers. Their father is John Kongos, a South African pop-star. Be sure to catch their foot-stomping beat on the track, Come With Me Now.

Artist: Kiings
Genre: Electronic, Soul
Time: 6 PM
Place: Miller Lite Oasis
Kiings is a Milwaukee duo that quickly won over the city’s heart with their song, Explain Myself. This particular song samples Quadron’s version of Lauryn Hill’s, Ex-factor. Kiings does not shy away from unique sampling. The duo has gained momentum by collaborating with local Milwaukee artists. Kiings songs include sample’s from Phox, Rae Cassidy, Christine Hoberg, along with other Milwaukee Darlings.

Artist: OutKast with special guest Gary Clark Jr.

OutKast is certainly one of the most talked about Summerfest headliners this year, and rightfully so. After a six-year hiatus, OutKast is finally back together. Summerfest is one of the stops for Big Boi and Andre 3000 during the OutKast reunion tour. This might be one of your last chances to see the famous hip-hop duo. You won’t want to miss it.

Artist: The Head and the Heart
Genre: Indie Folk, Folk Rock
Time: 10 PM
Place: Briggs & Stratton Big Backyard
The Head and the Heart are no strangers to Milwaukee. You may have seen this charming indie-folk band at the sold-out Riverside concert last April. If you missed them there, don’t worry! They will be playing at Summerfest this Sunday. While you're at it, see if you can recognize which historic Milwaukee building can be seen in the video for their hit song, Down in the Valley, featured below.
Artist: The Living Statues
Genre: American Rock & Roll
Time: 6:45PM
Place: U.S. Cellular Connection Stage
This young Milwaukee band has a look, and sound, that surpasses their years. Their song, Knockin’, seems to be reminiscent of band that’s been around the block a few times. A self-described Rock n’ Roll band, The Living Statues have garnered a lot of traction recently, opening for bands such as The Vaccines, Hanni El Khatib and Mayer Hawthorne. The band cites inspiration from Jack White and The Black Keys. This is definitely a show you won’t want to miss. Come out and support Milwaukee talent.
