Just announced: Chance The Rapper to play the Rave Oct. 16

Chicago's Chance The Rapper has succeeded in the music industry by going against the grain. He has turned down major label deals and remains independent. He has no commercial radio airplay. The only time you might hear his music on the radio is on public or college radio stations.  He gives away his music for free. In an interview with The Guardian, Chance said this about giving away his music:

“If you can give away free music you can give away free electricity, free water,” he says. “Those tiny jabs at a larger infrastructure are what make revolutions. I’m not about to change the way the whole system works, but it’s just that thought that you could.”

With all of that, he has become one of the biggest hip hop artists right now! In addition to his many musical successes, he is active in his community in Chicago. From throwing free concerts for teenagers to running an a nti-violence campaign,  Chance has definitely made a mark on the youth of Chicago and beyond.
