A while back, on Roy Harper's birthday, we played a song sung by someone (Roy, himself) who wasn't in the band whose song he was singing (Pink Floyd, on 'Have A Cigar"). Today to celebrate the birthday of the talented Glenn Tilbrook (Squeeze) we present what is arguably the 'signature' tune from Squeeze ('Tempted') yet is not sung by Glenn, the band's main lead singer. Tilbrook did write the song with Chris Difford. Though the song was sung by Paul Carrack, he was only with the band for one album. Tilbrook sang the song live after Carrack's departure. Happy Birthday, Glenn Tilbrook.
And, it's safe to say it's a badge of honor when Joe Cocker covers your song, as he did here in 1984.
