Vivarium in the Park will bring live music to local beer gardens

Pabst Theater Group

Here in the home stretch of July, I bet you thought we had left the days of summer concert series announcements behind us. Well, friend, think again because today we found out about not just a summer concert series, but a traveling summer concert series from our friends at Pabst Theater Group.

Vivarium in the Park is a joint effort among PTG, Molson Coors and Milwaukee County Parks to bring some of the absolute finest local artists to three area beer gardens over five weeks. Each night of music runs from 6 to 8 p.m. and will unfold as follows:

  • July 31 — Max and the Fellow Travelers at The Vine Humboldt
  • Aug. 7 — Ladybird at The Vine Humboldt
  • Aug. 14 — Social Cig at Whitnall Beer Garden
  • Aug. 21 — Old Pulp at The Vine Humboldt
  • Aug. 28 — Jacob Slade at South Shore Terrace

“The series is named after our newest venue on Milwaukee’s east side, Vivarium, a ‘place of life’ that’s rooted in the city and nurtures developing and local artists,” Pabst Theater Group president and CEO Gary Witt said in a release. “With the help of our friends at Molson Coors and Milwaukee County Parks, we’re excited to continue showcasing incredible local talent while, at the same time, highlighting the beauty and accessibility of Milwaukee’s parks.

“We’re incredibly lucky to have a park system that’s incorporated the city’s rich beer garden history into today’s cultural landscape, helping to drive all walks of life to Milwaukee’s gorgeous natural spaces.”

"The collaboration with the Pabst Theater Group and Molson Coors for this free summer concert series is a wonderful opportunity to bring our community together,” Milwaukee County Parks executive director Guy Smith added. “We are excited to offer a unique and enjoyable experience at our beer gardens, showcasing the best of local talent and the vibrant spirit of Milwaukee while you cool down with a refreshing beverage."
