MKE Concert Pick: 10 hours of music at Third Space Brewing

Third Space Brewing

Milwaukee’s concert scene has a lot going on, so we look at the shows coming up to find the ones you’ll look back on and be glad you went. Then we add them to our weekly Milwaukee Concert Picks.

In the eight years of its existence, Third Space Brewing has endeared itself to the city of Milwaukee by becoming what its name promises: a third space (home and work being the first two) to gather with others and simply connect. This Saturday, the brewery will celebrate its many accomplishments and say thanks to the people who helped along the way by throwing an anniversary party with a music lineup as tasty as its beverage lineup.

Because this is a concert pick, let’s get right to the entertainment schedule:

  • Noon — Maxwell James Band
  • 1:30 p.m. — Listening Party
  • 3 p.m. — Tigera
  • 4:30 p.m. — Honey Blazer
  • 6 p.m. — NEWSKI
  • 7:30 p.m. — Derek Pritzl
  • 9 p.m. — Joseph Huber

That is a darn fine collection of musicians who, admittedly, will not fill the 10 hours promised by the headline. Third Space has intelligently included 30 minutes between bands so they don’t need to rush wildly on and off stage — and so you have a chance to make a trip to the bar for another Happy Place. As a result, we’re talking more like 7 hours of music, which is a nice return on your admission fee of zero dollars.

While that’s an excellent deal, we recommend taking up Third Space on the charitable addition to Saturday’s party. Inspired by co-founders Andy Gehl and Kevin Wright’s first meeting as counselors at Camp Minikani, the brewery is encouraging attendees to make a $10 minimum donation to the YMCA-run camp.

You could also go beyond that level and get rewarded for your generosity with a Happy Place bandana ($25) or can glass ($75) that’ll also score you $3 beers at the party. For the deeper pockets, there are rewards like a free space rental ($300), beer for a year ($400) and a barrel party for you and 40 friends ($500).

All of those options are laid out on the donation page, and more information on Third Space’s various goings-on are available on the brewery’s website.
