After breathing life back into the Ten Buck Show earlier this year, the Pabst Theater Group will keep the economically minded concert series going July 11 with a rock-solid local lineup featuring Sleepy Gaucho, Jacob Slade and The Racing Pulses.
All three local acts should sound awfully familiar to 88Nine listeners. Two of them have been the subject of Milwaukee Music Premieres, while Jacob Slade and Sleepy Gaucho both took the stage in our performance space last year. Seeing the trio in a venue like the Pabst Theater is a very cool opportunity made even better by the price of admission.
For tickets to the July 11 show featuring Sleepy Gaucho, Jacob Slade and The Racing Pulses, you can fork over your 10 bucks right now online or visit the Pabst/Riverside box offices.

Sleepy Gaucho follows in the great American artistic tradition that is the rambler’s drawl. His Panamerican influenced music offers up a cocktail of wry existentialism and mellow introspection that floats somewhat aimlessly in a realm of its own. Born in Wisconsin while also growing up some time in Argentina, Sleepy Gaucho’s music can at times be melancholic, at others ethereal, but always agreeable.
On his newest record, True Love Corridor, the evolving sound of the multi-instrumentalist and producer has somehow diverted toward the smooth and extravagant sounds of the mid to late ’70s AM radio & "Yacht Rock" wave. Inspired by the impressive productions and albums by such bands as Steely Dan, Supertramp and Electric Light Orchestra, Sleepy Gaucho has figured out a way to crack his own version of that sound on a far more modest budget.
Jacob Slade is an independent artist and producer from Milwaukee. His 2025 album, Brain Fog, blends ethereal pop instrumentals with introspective and imaginative lyricism that urges the listener toward self-reflection and self-acceptance.
Writer Izzi Scheyd once wrote, "I expect that The Racing Pulses will start showing up in all kinds of places, as there’s something undeniably appealing about their sound." How prescient Scheyd's statement was, as the melodic guitars, poetic lyrics and energizing rhythms of The Racing Pulses have been praised by fans across the world.
Whether reverberating around medieval marvel Elenska Basilica or U.S. festival stages, at Olbrich Botanical Gardens or Breese Stevens Field, the Wisconsin-based, Billboard-charting act has developed a habit of rocking out to large crowds and delivering exciting performances. Why? The music of The Racing Pulses is the sound of vitality.
