Thursday on 414 Live, we welcomed TRUE Skool to Radio Milwaukee. This youth urban arts program helps kids build skills and create new music and art to share with the community. They showed us what they've been working on for their Spring Showcase on the 88Nine stage.
TRUE Skool’s mission is to engage, educate and empower youth and communities through the creative arts and hip hop culture.
Content for their art and music performance projects come from their “True Knowledge” workshop series which focus on social justice, community building and gender specific topics that encourage leadership, social-emotional intelligence and increased critical thinking skills.
TRUE Skool explores the cultural and historical ties of the elements of hip hop: DJ, breakdance, MC, graffiti and knowledge…through interactive workshops, events, lectures, projects and classes with a focus on social justice and community service.
