Ben E. King - "Stand By Me"
Ki: Theory - "Stand By Me"
What a great cover! I mean, it's absolutely different but effective. You may hate stuff like this, but I love it as a contrast to one of the best songs of all time. "Stand By Me" is that song, written by Ben E. King and (perhaps) Leiber and Stoller, who were the session producers way back in 1960. It's still gorgeous and heartfelt and earnest.
The Ki: Theory is decidedly not. It feels very nu-metal doesn't it? I think it's perfect for the flip side of a very romantic song. Oddly enough, the lyrics don't feel out of place with the tone and delivery. Not so much a love song anymore.
