Valerie June will bring her tour to the Vivarium next May

We’re unabashed fans of Valerie June at Radio Milwaukee. So if you felt a wave of positivity in the universe emanating from Walker’s Point today, it probably has something to do with the news that June has included a May 29 date at the Vivarium among her touring plans for next year.

The stop in Milwaukee is part of June’s “Owls, Omens and Oracles Tour” that will bring all of her wonderful vibes to various locations across the country, starting with Philadelphia on April 15 and wrapping up June 22 in Seattle.

A singer, songwriter and multiinstrumentalist, June got into music in her native Tennessee and poured the foundation of what became a sound that swirls folk, blues, gospel, soul and bluegrass. Appropriately, she brings a variety of tools to her trade — everything from banjo to ukulele to lap steel — and has displayed that talent on a series of studio albums, as well as a pair of recent singles with Stax Music Academy: “Friendship (ft. Carla Thomas)” and “High Note.”

On top of her music pursuits, June is also a published author, having released Maps for the Modern World in 2021 and interactive journal Light Beams in 2023.

We love having talents like that in the building and have been very fortunate to welcome June on several occasions, most recently a 2022 Studio Milwaukee Session bursting with warmth and wisdom.

You can get a dose of that when Valerie June returns to Milwaukee on May 29 for a show at the Vivarium, tickets for which go on sale at 10 a.m. this Friday, Dec. 6, online and at the Pabst/Riverside box offices.
