A Boogie Wit da Hoodie joins Summerfest’s AmFam Amp lineup

The biggest stage at the World’s Biggest Music Festival was awfully light on hip-hop after the first wave of announcements. That got rectified Wednesday afternoon, when Summerfest announced A Boogie Wit da Hoodie as the American Family Insurance Amphitheater headliner for Saturday, July 1.

The Bronx-bred rapper will get support from Trippie Redd and Milwaukee’s Kia Rap Princess, who put on a clinic on a slightly smaller stage last October at our 15th Birthday Party. With the trio booked, Summerfest has one more AmFam Amp spot to fill the final Thursday of the festival, July 6.

Artist Dubose has four studio albums as A Boogie Wit da Hoodie, all of which climbed into the top 10 of the Billboard 200, with 2018’s Hoodie SZN sitting at No. 1 for three weeks. His most recent LP, Me vs. Myself, was a Christmas Eve release last year and split its 22 tracks between his two monikers.

Trippie Redd also has a chart-topper to his name, 2019’s A Love Letter to You 4, and his five other studio albums all reached the top four. He’ll take the stage right after our city gets some serious love in the form of Kia Rap Princess, who rapid-fire released two EPs in the past couple months: 4 TWENTIES last week and TRAP Sexy in February (you can check out both on her website).

Tickets for the show go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. next Friday, May 5, via Ticketmaster and at the Summerfest Box Office.
