Don't forget about these music festivals in the 'burbs

We've talked a lot about Milwaukee and Wisconsin music festivals this summer, but we don't want to forget about all the music in the 'burbs.

Each Thursday morning on Radio Milwaukee, the Journal Sentinel’s Piet Levy and 88Nine’s Jordan Lee talk about the music coming into Milwaukee and the music coming out of Milwaukee on Tap’d In.

Read more and listen to the podcast below to hear us talk about the music festivals hitting a Milwaukee suburb near you.

Tall Tales Music Festival

August 10-11, 2018

This is the sixth year of this free festival in Burlington, WI. Tall Tales is all about featuring music with strong storytelling in indie, folk, rock and Americana music. This year's lineup is artist-curated by Nashville singer-songwriter Erin Rae, who picked a mostly female list of performers, which is pretty cool and unfortunately rare. The lineup includes herself, Tristen, Nicole Atkins, Lilly Hiatt, Kashena Sampson, Coco Reilly, Ruby Boots, Field Report and more.

Waukesha Rotary BluesFest

August 10-11, 2018

If you love blues, this is something you won't want to miss. This year's headliners are Joe Louis Walker, Carolyn Wonderland, Nikki Hill and Jarekus Singleton. And set in the greenery of Naga-Waukee Park, this sounds like a perfect setting to hear them play.

Wilson Center Guitar Festival

August 16-18, 2018

This festival and competition is huge. It celebrates all things guitar and features performances by some of the greatest guitarists of today and tomorrow, from Blues and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee Elvin Bishop to a lot of local talent like Neil Davis, Brett Newski and the new supergroup For the Culture. The live competitions from classical, fingerstyle, jazz, rock and blues can get intense too. It's gonna be good.
