As Wilco prepares to celebrate 30 years of existence in 2024, Jeff Tweedy is getting a head start by embarking on a solo fall tour. But the frontman from one of America's greatest jam bands won't be playing tunes; he'll be discussing his new book about songs that inspired him. The tour includes a stop in Milwaukee.
"World Within a Song: Music that Changed My Life and Life That Changed My Music" is the mouthful of a title for Tweedy's book that contains 50 songs that "enhanced his own craft and impacted the way he remembers his past." With 12 studio albums — and No. 13, Cousin, due out Sept. 29 — I imagine Tweedy's needed plenty of musical inspiration over the years.
The eight-city book tour that starts in Tweedy's hometown of Chicago on Nov. 5 and will make its way to Milwaukee's Pabst Theater on Saturday, Nov. 11. Each stop includes a "special guest," including guitarist Nathan Salsburg in Cincinnati and actor Nick Offerman in Los Angeles. Milwaukee's guest is still to be announced, but we know a few local celebrity DJs who are ready and available.
Tickets for the show at the Pabst, co-sponsored by Boswell Book Company, are on sale now for $30. Every ticket includes a signed copy of "World Within a Song."
