Last week, Salam and Kim shared their top 10 picks for the Milwaukee Film Festival. On this episode of Uniquely Milwaukee, we follow up with Radio Milwaukee’s resident cinephiles, who reveal their top five films from the festival — so far. The event runs through this Thursday, May 4, and you can visit the festival website to see the remaining screenings.
Salam: The Milwaukee Film Festival holds a special place in my heart and is one of my favorite activities in this city. As a movie lover, there's nothing quite like the experience of being in a room full of fellow film enthusiasts eagerly awaiting the start of a cinematic masterpiece.
The festival creates a sense of community — a place for us to come together and appreciate the art of storytelling through film. Whether you're a seasoned cinephile or a casual movie-goer, the annual event offers something for everyone. From thought-provoking documentaries to heartwarming dramas and everything in between, the diverse selection of films will captivate and inspire.
Kim: I'm always excited when it's time for the Milwaukee Film Festival — or any of Milwaukee Film’s events. Ever since I was a kid, I've loved movies, especially documentaries and (real) horror.
The last time I engaged this much with the fest was during the pandemic, when films were virtual, but this year felt different in the best way. Maybe it was the expansive selection, the promotion or something else, but it's been a wonderfully busy experience. It was TOUGH choosing a top five (and there are still more movies on my list to see), but I managed to do it. Listen to the episode to hear my top choices ... so far anyway.
