'La Alternativa' Summerfest preview: Latine artists you can't miss

djkennyperez

For this episode, we gave listeners a musical preview of the amazing Latine artists performing at Summerfest 2024. I wish I could’ve added everyone to this episode, but fitting all of that into an hour-long show just wasn't possible — a wonderful problem to have considering the excellent lineup arranged by the folks at Summerfest, as well as the variety that Midwest music lovers can explore.

To kick off the episode, I highlighted the July 5 acts at the newly revamped Aurora Pavilion Stage. Angélica Garcia, an artist I have followed since the beginning, will show off her impressive vocal presence and musical range at 4:30 p.m., and it doesn't stop there. Cimafunk (2 p.m.), El Sebas (3:15 p.m.) and Reyna Tropical (5:45 p.m.) will all perform, promising to get the crowd up and dancing.

Maybe you'll opt for opening day, June 20, with Latin alternative sounds at the Miller Lite Oasis. Then there's the official Latin Music Day on June 22 featuring Brenda K Starr, Luis Figueroa, De La Buena and Septeto Charambo. And on the final Saturday, July 6, you can scream for the young regional Mexican acts at the BMO Pavilion: Ivan Cornejo (9:30 p.m.) and Delilah (7:30 p.m.), plus Milwaukee’s own Klan 414 (5:30 p.m.)

My ask: Listen to this episode and decide for yourself who you plan to see. Whatever you crave, Summerfest has you covered.
