National & North: Love for his family, hope for his city

In 1997, Social Psychology Researcher Arthur Aron conducted a study on human connection.

Almost 20 years later it became popularized as The 36 Questions That Lead To Love.

So here in Milwaukee, we chose 8 strangers from two of our longest streets to answer these questions -- on camera.

It’s time to meet your neighbor, and maybe even love them too.

Yollande moved to Milwaukee from the African country Cameroon to obtain her second graduate degree. Her first Milwaukee address was on North Avenue and she now owns an African fusion restaurant on the same street.

Her energy is magnetic, and she radiates love.

It's either you be there for your child, or you just another one of those 'dad-beats.' And I refuse to be that.

A resident of Sherman Park, Joey is infectiously optimistic about his path in life.

He is actively engaged in Running Rebels, an organization off North Avenue he credits with turning his life around.

He's a committed father and says he wants to be a positive force in his daughter's life, no matter what.  And he wants to spread that love through the community, too, and spends most of his free time mentoring youth.

North Avenue has been a pillar, a pivotal street in getting me grounded in Milwaukee.
