Alderwoman Milele A. Coggs has shared the schedule for the upcoming Bronzeville Week, which takes place Aug. 7-14. This will be the 10th anniversary of this celebration of Black arts, culture and commerce. The week-long of programming is hosted by Bronzeville Cultural and Entertainment District, which aims to revitalize the area of Milwaukee inspired by the original Bronzeville, a center of Milwaukee's Black excellence from the early to the mid-20th century.
Bronzeville Week kicks off with the HaRUNbee 5K Walk/Run for Healthy Birth Outcomes on Aug. 7. The run will be in-person and virtual. Other events include Brunch in Bronzeville, grand opening of the African American Chamber of Commerce on Aug. 13, Bronzeville Art Walk on Aug. 14, Bronzeville Business Breakfast on Aug. 11.
Other highlights include an event called She Slangs Wood, where women and young girls learn about the basics of of woodworking hosted by Tonda Thompson. Maranta Plant Shop will host Rooted in Culture, which will share origins, history and care information of plants.
