This is our first "Don't Sleep On" post on the new site, and this one comes all the way from down under by the way of Hamilton, New Zealand. Her name is Zimbra and she is a singer/songwriter that possesses a bright soul pop sound with a little spice. She has roots in the sounds of such jazz/soul legends as Nina Simone while at the same time has been compared to such artists has Bjork and Amy Winehouse. She definitely has the potential to break into the States.
Kimbra is currently is working on her solo debut with producers Francois Tetaz(Architecture in Helsinki) and M-Phazes, who has worked with artists such as Pharoahe Monch and Amerie. Check out her latest single and video for "Settle Down" and let me know what you think in the comment section.
