It’s been a prosperous couple of years for British post-punk band Yard Act, whose talk-singing approach struck a chord as we all started to emerge from lockdown. Now, with sophomore album Where’s My Utopia about to drop, the group has expanded an already-extensive world tour to include a Milwaukee-area stop at X-Ray Arcade in Cudahy on Oct. 3.
At first blush, this strikes me as a band-venue match made in heaven. The quartet’s high-energy and typically engaging stage presence — see their recent appearance on The Tonight Show below — seems tailor-made for the relatively intimate space. The only hiccup I can imagine is X-Ray Arcade’s size and the band’s rapidly gathering momentum not being quite as good a match. We’ll see how demand shakes out between now and October, I guess.
For the time being, you can pick up tickets to the show starting at 10 a.m. this Friday, Feb. 16, via the X-Ray Arcade website.
