Summerfest adds Benson Boone to this year’s amphitheater roster

Milwaukee World Festival

With the first two weekends taken care of, Summerfest on Monday started filling in the final stretch at the American Family Insurance Amphitheater by announcing Benson Boone as the headliner for July 3.

Fresh off a memorably, um, grabby performance at the Grammy Awards, Boone added Summerfest to an already-busy run of festival appearances that includes Coachella in April. The busy touring schedule in 2025 follows a year that saw his debut album, Fireworks & Rollerblades, go platinum and push him to a Best New Artist nomination at Sunday’s Grammys. While the award ultimately went to Chappell Roan, Boone gets a lovely consolation prize as the Amp’s closing artist on Summerfest’s third Thursday.

Boone got his start — as many musicians do these days — on social media by posting videos to TikTok before auditioning for American Idol in 2021. He made headway and won a spot in the top 24 before voluntarily withdrawing to work on advancing his career without the show’s assistance.

That same year, Imagine Dragons frontman Dan Reynolds signed Boone to his Night Street Records (in partnership with Warner Records) and released the single “Ghost Town.” It was almost three years before Boone dropped his debut album in April 2025, and a little more than two months later he was on stage at London’s Wembley Stadium opening for Taylor Swift.

Tickets for Benson Boone’s July 3 show at the American Family Insurance Amphitheater go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. this Friday, Feb. 7, online via Ticketmaster and at the Summerfest box office.
