Today's Summerfest schedule and picks: Thursday, July 7

Every day of Summerfest, we’ll bring you a rundown of the headliners, hidden gems and Radio Milwaukee staff picks so you can catch the very best local, national and global artists performing across the nine days. Here’s what day seven has in store, from Rock and Roll Hall of Famers to R&B royalty (see the full 2022 Summerfest lineup here and how to score drink deals every day here):

Today at the American Family Insurance Amphitheater: Rod Stewart, Cheap Trick

Technically, there are three Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees on this bill, as Stewart has gone in twice (individually in 1994 and with Faces in 2012) before adding a knighthood in 2016 for good measure. Both artists on the bill will bring a chameleon-esque catalog to the Amp that’ll run the gamut from bangers (“Surrender”) to ballads (“The Flame”) to the boudoir (“Do Ya Think I’m Sexy?”).

Staff pick from Dan Reiner: Boyz II Men @ Uline Warehouse Stage, 9:30 p.m. (and American Family Insurance House, 6 p.m.)

You shouldn’t need much convincing to see these R&B icons. But if you're looking for reasons: “End of the Road” recently celebrated its 30th anniversary (sorry if that makes you feel old), and Boyz II Men is still regarded among the best live performers in the country. If you get to the festival grounds a little earlier, I suggest lining up to see a stripped-down set at the intimate AmFam House at 6 p.m.
